Criptos: El CEO de Allianz GIobal Investors critica las criptomonedas

Summary:

  • Allianz GI CEO: Cryptocurrencies should be outlawed

  • “What is Bitcoin?” among top Google questions in 2018

  • Dash (DASH on xStation5) losses nearly 5%

Cryptocurrencies have begun today’s trading with some declines after yesterday’s wave of increases. However, the scale of drops could be described as modest. The declines across the largest cryptocurrencies - Bitcoin (BITCOIN on xStation5), Ethereum (ETHEREUM on xStation5) and Ripple (RIPPLE on xStation5) - have ranged from around 0.5% to around 1.5%. The capitalization of the whole cryptocurrency market has dropped below the $110 billion mark once again, and it stands a notch above $108 billion.

Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency accounting for 55% of the crypto market, has experienced further declines. The cryptocurrency is trading around the $3350 handle at press time. Source: xStation5

Head of Allianz Global Investors criticizes cryptocurrencies

Andreas Utermann, Allianz Global Investors CEO, said on Tuesday that crypto assets should be “outlawed”, accusing them of erasing people’s savings, as Reuters reported. “I am personally surprised that regulators haven’t stepped in harder”, Utermann remarked during a panel discussion in London. Sitting close to Allianz GI CEO Andrew Bailey, the head of UK’s Financial Conduct Authority, commented “that’s quite strong actually!” and he added that crypto assets had “no intrinsic value”, according to Reuters. Let us notice that Andreas Utermann is the head of one of the largest European asset managers as Allianz Global Investors CEO.

The recent weeks have not been successful for Dash as it’s seen large drops. At press time, Dash is moving in the vicinity of the $62 handle which is situated just somewhat above the 2018’s low. Source: xStation5

“What is Bitcoin?” among the most popular Google questions in 2018

Google published its annual review of search terms in 2018 titled “Year in Search 2018”. Is it connected to cryptocurrencies? The correct answer is “yes”, because “What is Bitcoin?” has been the most popular “What is…?” question in the United States in 2018, as Google reports. No one should be surprised that cryptocurrencies have gathered a lot of attention this year as their prices experienced many huge increases and decreases. However, the fact that the mentioned phrase reached the first place among such questions could be surprising. Let us remind that the same question ranked the second place in the 2017’s Google review.
