Economic calendar: Quiet start to a busy week

European stock market indices launched today's cash session little changed. German DAX opened 0.1% lower, UK FTSE 100 was down 0.2%, Euro Stoxx 50 and CAC40 opened flat, while Dutch AEX dropped 0.3% at session launch.

This comes after a mixed trading in Asia-Pacific earlier today. Japanese yen is the mover today, with JPY being the best performing G10 currency. However, JPY strengthening is somewhat puzzling as it was not accompanied by any news.

Economic calendar for today is empty, with no noteworthy releases from Europe or the United States scheduled. Investors will be offered a speech from Fed Waller at 2:15 pm BST as well as a speech from ECB Rehn at 10:30 pm BST, but that's all in the calendar for today. However, things get more interesting later into the week, including FOMC minutes and Jerome Powell's speech at Jackson Hole symposium.
