The 4th International Mining Conference will be held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, from January 14 to 16, 2025, at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh, under the theme “Achieving Impact.”
The event is organized by the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and begins with a follow-up ministerial meeting with the participation of more than 100 countries and 40 international organizations. The Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef, stressed that the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques reflects the wise leadership’s commitment to the continued success of the conference, which receives direct follow-up from His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who is keen to promote development in the mining and mineral industries sector globally.
The International Mining Conference is a major platform that brings together stakeholders in the sector, including governments, companies and financial institutions, as well as research centers and universities. The conference will provide an important opportunity to discuss the challenges facing the mining sector and explore promising opportunities at the regional and international levels, with a focus on enhancing the economic and social benefits of this vital sector.
The conference will also include a ministerial meeting held on its sidelines, with the participation of more than 100 countries and 40 international organizations. This meeting aims to follow up on the implementation of the initiatives adopted in previous ministerial meetings, which include developing a strategic framework for critical minerals in a region extending from Africa to West and Central Asia, in addition to producing green minerals using modern technologies and renewable energy. The meeting will also focus on developing a framework for sustainability in supply chains and establishing centers of excellence to enhance investment and develop human capabilities.
Achieving Impact is the slogan that will be carried by the Fourth International Mining Conference, which will be organized by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. The fourth edition of the conference will cover important topics such as exploring new mining areas, attracting investments to the mining and processing sector, and the role of minerals in developing communities and securing clean energy.
The conference begins with the ministerial meeting on the first day, January 14, 2025, followed by the main sessions on the second and third days. The sessions will witness the participation of ministers and global officials in the mining sector, in addition to the heads of prominent mining companies from around the world.
Among the main participants in the conference will be Tom Palmer, CEO of Newmont Mining, Jonathan Price, CEO of TEC, Dominic Barton, Chairman of Rio Tinto, Mark Cutifani, President of Vale of Brazil, Robert Friedland, Founder and Co-CEO of Ivanhoe Mines, and Bob Wilt, CEO of Maaden, among other prominent figures.
It is worth noting that the third edition of the Mining Conference, which was held in January 2024, witnessed the attendance of more than 14,000 participants from investment leaders, heads of mining companies and experts in this field from 133 countries, in addition to 100 sponsors and exhibitors.
The event included 70 sessions with the participation of 250 speakers and resulted in the announcement of new estimates of the Kingdom’s untapped mineral potential, which was estimated at about 9.3 trillion riyals. 75 agreements and memoranda of understanding were also signed, with a value exceeding 75 billion riyals.
